I. JOB OVERVIEW


Job Description Summary:
GW’s Division for Student Affairs (DSA) supports the mission of the George Washington University by enhancing the student experience through programs and services that focus on student learning and success; student and parent engagement; and wellness, education, and prevention. The Mount Vernon Campus is home to 680 undergraduate students who reside in campus residence halls. The campus includes academic programs such as the University Writing Program, recreational facilities, event venues, and living/learning communities (e.g., University Honors, Women’s Leadership, Civic House and Politics & Values.). This Student Program Associate, Mount Vernon Campus position serves within the Division of Student Affairs and is responsible for supporting student programs and space management of Student Affairs spaces on the Mount Vernon Campus.
Specific responsibilities include:

Student Programs

  • Collaborates with Mount Vernon Campus partners to create intentional, engaging, outcomes-based programming for a diverse student population residing on the Mount Vernon Campus.
  • Manages general operations for the MVC
  • Supports the coordination, development, planning, and execution of student programs, campus signature programs and traditions for the Mount Vernon Campus (e.g. Serves as a member of the DSA Student Life unit responsible for the planning and implementation
  • of university-wide programs on Foggy Bottom & Mount Vernon Campuses (e.g. Weeks of Welcome, Vern Harvest, VernLights, Tailgates, Fountain Day, Lunar New Year, and Back to Mount Vernon).
  • Manages communications including campus flyers, the MVC website, and REACH screens and curates the social media presence for the Mount Vernon Campus.
  • Manages the rental of select campus spaces to GW student organizations and departments as well as external clients for conferences, weddings, summer camps and special occasions.
  • Works with the Student Center, Events & Venues, Facilities, Dining, GW staff, students, and/or external clients in the planning, setup, and on-site support for campus programs.
  • Supports the selection, training, and evaluation of undergraduate student staff to include direct supervision of student coordinators.
  • Leads, advises, and supports a diverse portfolio of approximately 3 student organizations in line with the GW’s student organization advising expectations.

Student Systems

  • Responsible for inventory, maintenance, and tracking of DSA equipment and technology.
  • Provides onsite technical support for event spaces on the Mount Vernon Campus.

The position is based at GW’s Mount Vernon Campus in Washington, DC but travels to the Foggy Bottom campus on occasion. The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Experience with client services, event planning, and event setup/management
  • Experience with digital communication platforms and software such as USI or EMS, Adobe, Canva and MAC graphics software
  • Audiovisual technology experience
  • Understanding of computer networks
  • Flexibility to adapt to new enterprise technologies
Hiring Range $47,073.26 - $64,771.35
