Weekend Desk Assistants
This position’s hours are only on the weekends, between Friday at 5pm through Sunday evening. Schedule usually ranges between 5-12 hours/week. These staff members work in the residence halls, operating the front desk in the lobby of the center. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: operating standard office equipment; maintaining filing systems and records; answering student questions and handling complaints; issuing temporary keys; answering phone calls; responding to emergency situations; other duties as assigned.

Traditions Square Community Assistants
The Traditions Square Apartments Community Assistant (CA) at The University of Oklahoma serves as a student worker, leader, and constant resource for our residents at Traditions Square Apartments. This position serves as a critical link between students and the Housing and Residence Life Department. As a Community Assistant, you become a representative of the University and a resource for students facing challenges within the apartments. CA’s typically work between 12-20 hours per week, between 9 a.m. -1 a.m.  Serve as a resource to all Traditions Square residents in need of assistance. Communicate and promote the Residence Life rules and Regulations found within the Community Living Guide. Perform meetings with residents to ensure that their needs are being met. Maintain accurate occupancy documentation. Report any roommate conflict, major maintenance issues and other miscellaneous circumstances to your direct supervisor. Issue resources and keys.  Maintain filing systems and records.  Assist in the resident check-in and check-out process. Facilitate programs to promote community engagement and enhance resident satisfaction. 

Traditions Square Recycling Community Assistants (RCA)
The RCA is essential to the overall success of the University of Oklahoma’s “Go Green” efforts.  RCA will report directly to the OU Apartments Recycling Manager and Resident Director. RCAs are expected to attend monthly recycling meetings to discuss issues and new ideas or suggestions. RCA should arrive to shift on-time in full uniform: Traditions or recycling t-shirt or fleece, name badge, and jeans or khakis.  RCA will have access to apartment golf cart they will use to pick-up recycling bins. Golf cart should be handled responsibly.  RCA should expect to walk up and down stairs carrying bins 5 to 10 pounds. Handle messy items that requires gloves. RCA will be responsible for submitting incident reports of residents who do not properly recycle. Other tasks and duties upon assignment 

Residence Hall/Administrative Offices/Office Assistants
This position’s hours are typically Monday-Friday, between 8am-5pm. Schedule is approximately 20 hours/week. These staff members work in the residence halls, reporting directly to the applicable area's Director and are responsible for the administrative tasks. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: operating standard office equipment, maintaining filing systems and records, auditing center keys ,maintaining work calendars, answering student questions, giving tours, and handling complaints, issuing temporary keys, answering phone calls, responding to emergency situations, and other duties as assigned.

Residential Colleges Community Assistants
This position's hours are throughout the day, including night and weekend hours. Schedule usually ranges between 12-18 hours/week. These staff members work at Dunham Residential College or Headington Residential College, operating the front desk in the lobby. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: handling administrative tasks assigned; answering student questions and handling complaints; issuing temporary access cards/equipment; conduct regular audits/inventories of access cards and equipment; answering phone calls, responding to emergency situations, and other duties as assigned. 

**While there are several styles of position available, the position that you may be hired for will be your primary responsibility, and based on work place needs, you will be expected to support any other area of the department as necessary.*

Required Education: Must be currently enrolled in the Spring term as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.


  • Must attach Spring 2024 ONE class schedule. 

Skills:


  • Must have basic math skills and ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent and repetitive arm and wrist movement.  

  • Ability to lift, push and pull objects up to 25 lbs, depending on job assignment.

  • Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods of time, climb stairs, as necessary, and depending on job assignment, occasionally to frequently. This will be determined by employee's assignment.
