The Student Centers are currently seeking a Guest Services Assistant to join their team of professionals. Duties will include providing assistance in the Game Room and the Welcome Center/Information Desk. Responsibilities amongst all areas will include providing coverage to other units as needed, completing all required student trainings, and representing the Division in University events such as Commencement.

Game Room:

  • Provide excellent customer service to all students, faculty/staff and external guests.
  • Enforcing Game Room policies and procedures.
  • Run gaming tournaments, events, and reservations.
  • Assist with marketing, game tournaments, expos, karaoke, and other events and activities in the Game Room.
  • Decorate the Game Room for special theme days, holidays, events, etc.
  • Make recommendations for service enhancements in the Game Room.
  • Assist with surveying Game Room patrons.
  • Assist with the upkeep of the Game Room space.
  • Report faulty equipment in need of repair.
  • Be cross-trained with Welcome Center and Computer Lab policies and procedures.

Welcome Center/Information Desk

  • Provide excellent customer service to all students, faculty/staff and external guests.
  • Answer general inquiries about the University via phonecalls and in-person interactions.
  • Direct guests to specific locations on campus
  • Record and tracks lost and found items into Reclaim Hub system
  • Maintain organization of lost and found items
  • Report things they observe on the main floor, as needed
  • Be cross-trained with Computer Lab and Game Room policies and procedures.

Customer service knowledge
None to basic level of Microsoft Word.
Ability to take direction and work independently as needed.
Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive information.

Student Assistant

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters. 
  • During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.
  • Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.
  • Hours vary.
  • Up to 20 hours per week.
  • Required to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

 

$12.00/hour
