Job Summary

The Student Financial Services (SFS) Coordinator at Harvard Law School (HLS) is responsible for providing front-line customer service and operational support for the J.D. financial aid program. This position serves as coordinator for assigned operational processes (billing or financial aid applications). This role provides exceptional customer service in a team-based environment. 


Position Description

As a Student Financial Services Coordinator, you will:   

  • Share primary responsibility for walk-in, telephone, and email inquiries  
  • Assist with website management including updating and creating content to guide students through the aid process  
  • Serve as primary contact for assigned operational processes; coordinate communication with students and families, assist with form design and maintenance, data validation, and tracking/monitoring statuses   
  • Assist with aspects of financial aid award processing including basic awarding, updates, quality control, student loans, grant allocation and the distribution of funds  
  • Provide backup for network systems administration and maintenance  
  • May handle tracking and payment of departmental expenses, reimbursements, P-Card payments, and ordering supplies  
  • Perform other duties as assigned; some duties may report to other members of the SFS team  

Basic Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of relevant administrative, customer service and/or technology leaning support experience required.  


Additional Qualifications and Skills

We are looking for people with:   

  • Effective written and oral communication skills and attention to detail  
  • Experience managing complex processes in a technological environment   
  • Strong data management and analytical skills, proficiency in Excel and in web-based data management tools  
  • Comfort working collaboratively with a team to manage a demanding workload.  
  • Background in financial aid helpful.  
  • Comfort presenting information to small groups helpful.
