Student Events Videographer - Dean of Business

Summary

The Student Events Photographer & Videographer is responsible for visually illustrating college of business events by meeting the photographic and video needs of the Schmidthorst College of Business. The Student Events Photographer & Videographer will contribute to overall visuals and image branding and special projects/presentations while working under the guidance and supervision of the College's Communications and Events Specialist. 
This is an as-needed position, with hours varying each week based on college events, project needs and scheduled assignments.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with the Dean and administrative/communications team to produce promotional and informational photography and video projects from concept to completion. This includes developing creative concepts, storyboarding, capturing photo and video content, editing, post-production and preparing final assets for use on the Schmidthorst College of Business website, social media platforms and other communications channels.
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Develop, capture and edit photography and video content for college marketing, storytelling and communications needs
    • Produce "MyStory" photo and video features highlighting students, alumni, faculty, staff and other college stakeholders
    • Photograph events, special projects, classroom experiences, student engagement opportunities and other assigned activities
    • Capture portraits, candid images, environmental photography that support the college's brand and messaging
    • Edit photos and video footage for web, social media, presentations and promotional use
    • Manage post-production tasks, including photo selection, basic retouching, editing, captioning and formatting for various platforms
    • Organize, label and archive photography and video assets for future use
    • Prepare and publish approved projects across college communication channels as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent academic record with a cumulative GPA greater than 3.0.
  • Position requires a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Lightroom, Adobe Premiere; and Microsoft Excel.
  • Must have work experience with conventional and electronic imaging.
  • Must have work experience in digital photography for electronic media production.
  • Able to multitask, yet maintain close attention to detail and timeliness of work production.
  • Able to work in a positive team-oriented manner with a variety of students, faculty, staff, administrators, vendors, and members of the general public.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates understanding of marketing photography, videography, journalism and mass communication.
  • Ability to operate and transport cameras and lighting equipment weighing up to fifty pounds to locations on and off campus with reasonable accomodations.
