We are seeking a Student Equity Experiences (SEE) Coordinator to lead the Graduate and Professional School's efforts to be an exemplar of strengthening diversity, uplifting equity, and honoring inclusion. This position will be responsible for new and existing activities, programs, and services with the goal of fostering inclusiveness and belonging for individuals from communities historically excluded and marginalized. The SEE Coordinator has the opportunity make a significant impact on not only the graduate and professional community, but also Texas A&M University at large. The ideal candidate enjoys leading initiatives and has a passion for implementing effective change, specifically related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Salary Range: $40,712.00 - $52,312.00 (Based on education and experience)

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six years of related experience in office administration or project management including some supervisory experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Skills to effectively interact with diverse constituencies and to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, other units of the campus, and outside organizations.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Respect for and understanding of shared governance.

Other Requirements:

  • Requires out-of-town travel to recruiting events.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in a related field.

  • Five years of experience effecting change in institutional culture and developing and leading initiatives around diversity, equity and inclusion.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must possess a strong work ethic and an ability to balance conflicting priorities and make decisions based on approaching deadlines. 
  • Current knowledge of the culture of higher education and the issues of access, inclusion, diversity, equity, and multi-cultural in a higher education setting.
  • Strong desire to work with graduate and professional students, faculty, and administrators from a wide range of fields across the University.
  • Understanding of University policies and procedures, and associated policies, laws, and practices related to diversity and inclusion in higher education.

Responsibilities:

  • Diversity Strategy - Collaborates with the Dean and leadership team to advance, implement and execute measurable actions leading towards greater diversity, equity, and inclusion of the graduate and professional student community. Provides professional and specialized guidance on the development and implementation of the Graduate and Professional School’s strategic commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion by establishing initiatives that foster an inclusive environment where all members of the community have an equal opportunity to succeed and feel a sense of belonging. Serves as the point-of-contact and representative for diversity, equity, inclusion and engagement efforts within the Graduate and Professional School. Collaborates with Graduate and Professional School personnel to develop, implement, and maintain strategies specifically designed to increase graduate student recruitment, retention, and success. Engages with underrepresented graduate and professional student organizations to support equity initiatives. Develops and maintains relationships to create innovative pathways to support diversity.
  • Research & Assessment - Works with Dean and leadership to establish metrics to measure progress and promote continuous assessment of DEI efforts.  Utilizes outcomes to assess effectiveness and recommend improvement and changes. Works collaboratively with Assistant Dean of Student Development and Success to research, plan and execute programming initiatives that promote the value of diversity and inclusion. Provides resources, best practices, and research-based guidance to graduate and professional departments and programs to ensure that the student experience at Texas A&M University is rewarding and enriching for students of all backgrounds.
  • Advising & Support - Partners with and provides guidance and recommendations to faculty and staff, university-wide, on steps to diversify applicant pools and protect against bias influencing decision making. Provides research informed recommendations to support best practices and develops content to educate and train faculty and staff on emerging practices such as holistic reviews. Facilitates affinity space(s) and conversation regarding diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging with the graduate and professional faculty, staff and student community as needed. Develops strong interpersonal relationships with and serves as a resource to historically minoritized graduate student communities and organizations. Supervises student workers and Graduate Assistants.
  • Outreach, Communication & Resources - Helps lead the design, development, and implementation of university-wide diversity, equity and inclusion strategies and initiatives that inform and attract prospective graduate and professional students to and current graduate and professional students at Texas A&M University. Works closely with Graduate and Professional School’s teams to co-develop and engage in cross-team collaboration on evaluation, best-practice research, communications, marketing strategies, and partnerships to support the Graduate and Professional School’s goals and values.
