Position Summary Information

Job Summary

The Student Enhancement Specialist in the Academic Success Collaborative (ASC) at Texas A&M University at Qatar is responsible for developing, designing and delivering classroom and individual training programs.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Four years of related experience in advising, recruiting, teaching, coaching, Student Affairs or other related.

Preferred Education and Experience

Master’s degree in education, counseling, or related field. Two years of experience in tutoring students in higher education setting.

Required Special Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills

Experience in assisting students with multi-media projects and presentations. Experience in teaching or tutoring students regarding the planning, constructing, critiquing, and revising of digital portfolios and oral presentations. Familiarity with multi-media pedagogy as practiced in a learning center. Technical experience in word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Special Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills

Ability to use and teach technical communication tools such as PowerPoint, Prezi, IgniteShow, Google Docs, and various digital portfolio platforms such as Wix, Weebly, and Google Sites.

Detailed Job Duties

Duties Performed
  • Provides assistance and support to students working on multi-media projects such as oral presentations, audio and video recordings, and digital portfolios.
  • Conducts campus-wide workshops and in-class training sessions on various academic skills, including but not limited to multi-literacy and multi-media projects and pedagogy.
  • Establishes best practices for advancement of multi-literacies in a learning center.
  • Works with ASC Manager to provide support for students & faculty in W (writing intensive) and C (communication intensive) courses.
  • Collaborates with ASC Director, ASC Manager, and ASC staff to create an innovative and effective learning environment grounded in learning center theory while incorporating new technologies.
Duties Performed
  • Manages and maintains the integrity of ASC’s media equipment for student use both in the center and in classrooms.
  • Manages the design and development of the ASC Website.
  • Establishes a contemporary social media presence for the ASC (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.) to publicize current offerings to TAMUQ students.
  • Develops student resources via the website incorporating various digital learning tools.
