Posting Summary
This position is responsible for student led initiatives, programs, and leadership development at the Prism Center. This includes programs and advising for queer and trans student leadership, growth, and development around issues of gender and sexuality and the intersections of gender & sexuality with other aspects of identity. Working collaboratively with students and campus partners, this position will create programs that focus on themes of social justice education, activism, positive social change, holistic wellness, and empowerment in and for the LGBTQIA+ community. The Student Empowerment Coordinator also leads recruitment, supervision, and professional development efforts for our student team. This position reports to the Director of the Prism Center.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one to three years of experience required. Demonstrated knowledge and experience working to foster diversity, social justice, and equity for gender and sexual minorities required. Experience with program development, community building, and in social media communication and digital organizing across social media platforms is essential. Effective organizational, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills are required. Able to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience working in youth advocacy or with LGBTQ+ college students and/or young adults. Experience as a student leader or supporting youth leadership development. Familiarity with the basic principles of budgeting, program assessment & evaluation. Supervisory experience.

Special Conditions External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, A probationary period may be required for current UVM employees, Bargaining unit position, Background Check required for this position

Union Position Yes, UVMSU ($20 minimum hourly rate)
