Job Summary

Students may work within several different environments.

Residential dining facilities include Watterson Dining Commons and Marketplace at Linkins.

Retail food service venues include: McAlister's Deli, The Landing, Timbers Grill, Qdoba, and Starbucks in the Bone Student Center, Starbucks at the Student Fitness Center, and Business Bistro at the State Farm Hall of Business.

Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality is the largest student employer at Illinois State University. We provide the campus community and guests with high-quality and professional event services and dining experiences in a variety of settings dedicated to enhancing the campus experience in a diverse community.

Pay Rate

$14.25 Hourly


Required Qualifications

- Ability and willingness to complete required tests, including Food Handler/Sanitation, Ethics, and Crime reporting
- Ability to obtain Food Handler Certification within 30 days of employment


Preferred Qualifications

Previous work experience in hospitality or customer service or related fields is a plus, but not required.

• Must be available to work varied shifts, including early mornings (possible start 6:00AM), nights, late nights (until 12:00AM), and
weekends.
• You will be scheduled for weekend shifts on an alternating weekend basis at minimum.
• Must be able to take direction and complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
• Must be positive and respectful, especially when working with a diverse population.
• All team members are required to assist with venue, Kitchen, and/or Dish Room clean up after meal service periods.
• As a customer service driven department, attendance and timeliness are imperative.

This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and if applicable, an employment history review, based on University Policy 3.1.30 and any offer of employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation and/or an employment history review. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.
