Job Description

NSHE System Computing Services (SCS) is hiring for a part-time student worker position for the SCS facility on the UNLV campus. The position is part of a small student team providing phone and e-mail support and assisting with specific customer service requests and light administrative tasks. The Student Service Desk Representative will spend most work hours responding to phone calls and e-mails from our Nevada System of Higher Education customers and creating and assigning tickets in our service ticket system. Other tasks may include: occasionally driving state vehicles to and from McCarran airport; preparing internal and external mailings; sending, receiving, and processing scheduled internal emails; updating process and procedures; and other light administrative duties as assigned. On-the-job training will be provided.

Required Qualifications

  • A driver's license (from any state) and ability to successfully pass an online defensive driving course
  • Semester load of at least 6 credits and a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 (5 credits/3.0 for graduate students)
  • Experience and enthusiasm in providing customer service
  • Clear communication skills
  • Positive attitude, initiative, and energy
  • Comfort with and/or interest in computer use and a basic knowledge of browsers and popular software
  • Willingness to adhere to security standards and follow processes and instructions

Schedule

This position requires dependable availability during our regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 7:30AM to 5PM), allowing for a total of 15-24 hours of work per week. The schedule is expected to vary each semester according to the student's coursework, but should be predictable on a weekly basis.
