The Office of Educational Equity serves as a catalyst and advocate for Penn State’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives by providing University-wide leadership to increase Penn State’s DEI efforts. Toward that end, Penn State is currently seeking applications and nominations for the position of Exam Coordinator Assistant.

 

Position Summary

Within the Office of Educational Equity, the Exam Coordinator Assistant position primarily supports the effective administration of exams, in accordance with federal mandates, in the Student Disability Resources (SDR) exam center. This position is responsible for assisting the Exam Coordinator and overseeing a team of exam assistants and proctors to ensure continuity of services. The individual in this position will interact and work with faculty requesting exams and students testing in the center. The individual will schedule exams and coordinate the resolution of issues related to administration of exams.

 

Primary Areas of Responsibility

Under the direction of the Exam Center Coordinator, the Exam Coordinator Assistant will:

  • Schedule exams with approved disability-related accommodations within the exam center.

  • Serve as team lead overseeing exam assistants and proctors to support the Exam Center Coordinator.

  • Work with faculty or their representatives on exam scheduling, securing exam materials by scheduled exam date, and returning completed exams after exam completion.

  • Troubleshoot system or center issues and resolve student or faculty concerns in collaboration with other units when necessary.

  • Respond to student and faculty questions about exam center procedures and communicate departmental policies, processes, and responsibilities specific to each party.

  • Enforce exam center student conduct expectations.

  • Oversee nightly exam center closure process as needed.

  • Promote a welcoming environment for diverse faculty and student clientele.

 

Testing center hours of operation are from 8:00AM – 10:00PM, Monday through Thursday, and 8:00AM – 5:00PM on Fridays. Scheduled hours will vary within the center’s hours of operation according to student need/demand.

This role requires a high degree of organization and professionalism, attention to detail, and multitasking. Required skills and knowledge include:

  • Planning and organizational skills.

  • Interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Competency in the use of a computer (Outlook).

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential internal and external communications.

  • Ability to build trust, create allies, and sustain mutually respectful relationships with faculty, staff, students, and colleagues.

 

Education and experience:

Typically requires a High School Diploma and 5 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$38,300.00 - $55,500.00
