Position Summary:


Under the supervision of the Assistant Director SPVR, Learning Support Services, the Student Counselor II/Success Coach provides support specifically to at-risk students and incoming transfer students, including academic support, skill-building, and mentoring programs for undergraduate students. To promote a positive and successful learning experience and increase student retention, success, undergraduate research opportunities, and completion, the Success Coach will provide individual and group coaching, goal planning guidance, holistic support, educational workshops, and effective advocacy and referrals for problem resolution.
The Success Coach serves as a primary point of contact for a caseload of assigned students and provides direct support services to participants with varying levels of academic and personal need. The Success Coach monitors progress toward degree completion, helps identify, prevent, and alleviate barriers to success, strengthens current skills, and ensures that the student's personal and professional goals are established and attained. The Success Coach assists in planning and coordinating culturally relevant student programming, retention outreach and counseling, and financial literacy programming. The Success Coach will utilize various methods, including appreciative advising methodology, positive psychology, intrusive advising, and other coaching models, to guide the implementation of success strategies and initiatives to assist in the transition to/navigation of the university and success throughout students' undergraduate careers. Effective collaboration amongst a network of campus units (Wellness Center, Learning Center, Advising offices, Career Center, Financial Aid, Dean of Students, etc.) will be an integral part of the Success Coach responsibilities.
This is a grant funded position contingent upon the availability of funds to support it.

Minimum Education and Experience:


Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience and a minimum of two years of experience.

Equipment Utilized:


MS Office, internet, computer competency in reading and evaluating spreadsheets, databases, student information systems, and other computer-based platforms including EAB and Qualtrics. Incumbent may use social media tools to communicate with students and other constituents.

Salary: Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, within university policy and salary schedules, as well as departmental budgets.
