Student - Associate Business Intelligence Analyst

Summary of Responsibilities

Under the moderate to close supervision of more senior members of the department, Associate Business Intelligence Analyst (Student Intern) will learn and use business intelligence principles in order to provide actionable data assets (such as reports and dashboards) across multiple business areas that will drive improvements in institutional performance.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a current UVU Student. 


Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

  • Ability to learn and work with UVU’s data governance process to document institutional data and relevant sourcing.
  • Skills in collecting, aggregating, manipulating, and analyzing data from multiple data sources in order to provide insights into the institution’s performance across multiple business areas.   
  • Ability to produce actionable reports such as dashboards and reports (automated and ad hoc) to provide accurate and timely information. 
  • Skills in using analytics to produce reports that show key performance indicators, identify areas of improvement into current operations, and display root cause analysis of problems.
  • Knowledge of reporting and business intelligence tools (such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.) or knowledge of maintaining and manipulating spreadsheets. 
  • Knowledge of personal computers and related software applications, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word (or similar applications).  
  • Ability to learn new technologies and solve problems creatively.  
  • Ability to handle confidential data with discretion and trustworthiness.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse audience.  
  • Ability to work with moderate supervision but display some latitude for independent judgment
