Position Summary
The Student Assistant for the Office of Research and Graduate Studies will assist the Director of Research Operations and the Administrative Assistant to the Dean with day to day operations of the department.
This position is funded by the Federal Work-Study program and is open to UIW students who are approved and eligible to participate in the Federal Work Study Program.
Essential Functions
General office duties to include:
  • Phones, scanning, filing, data entry and photocopying.
  • Maintain ORGS reception and student work center areas.
  • Maintain and organize office supplies and storage spaces.
  • Assist graduate students with forms on the ORGS website (training provided).
  • Assistance with phone coverage, as needed (training provided).
  • Assist in the preparation and roll-out of special events and projects.
  • Assist clients with finding ORGS website information.
  • Weekly pick-up and delivery of mail.
  • Run campus errands as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled at least part-time in a UIW undergraduate program.
  • Must have completed FAFSA and all financial aid forms.
  • Must be in good academic standing in the fall and spring semesters.
  • Must be able to provide class schedule.
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 4 hours per week.

Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student information and files.
  • Basic office knowledge with attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and ability to prioritize.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
Required Education
Current UIW student approved and eligible to participate in the Federal Work-Study program.
Required Work Experience
No previous work experience necessary. Training and guidance will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred but not Required
  • Prior experience in customer service.
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish).

Work Hours
Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.
  • Students must be able to work a minimum of 4 hours per week.
  • Students will not be required to work during student holidays unless desired.
Physical Demands
Ability to reach, squat, and lift 20 lbs.
