Medicinal Chemistry is a multi-disciplinary field of study that utilizes synthetic organic chemistry in conjunction with developments in biochemistry, computational chemistry, and molecular biology.

The opportunity to learn:

  • Design, synthesis, purification, and characterization of high value small molecules.
  • Evaluation and implementation of physiochemical properties of a lead/Hit compound.
  • Learning about Thin layer chromatography (TLC), HPLC, NMR and other analytical techniques
  • Optimization of chemical matter for key parameters including solubility, permeability, potency, stability, and pharmacokinetics
  • Learning how to write research articles.

Required Education: High School diploma or GED AND:

  • Must be currently enrolled at the University of Oklahoma
  • Must attach class schedule
