The TSYS Cybersecurity Center team is looking for an enthusiastic student assistant to join our team and provide support to our Director, Range Administrator, and faculty to help achieve our goals for student training and cyber competition. You will have duties to run range scenarios for students enrolled in Cybersecurity majors, including the MS, BS, and Nexus programs. You will also have responsibilities for assisting students in the Security Operation Centers (SOC) for the Range and UITS.

This position will help you acquire skills and knowledge in defending networks from cyber attacks. Ultimately, you will gain broad experience in cyber defense which should prepare you to enter any fast-paced cybersecurity work environment.

 Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Run and assist students with Cyber Range scenarios
  • Help mentor and coordinate students in the Security Operation Center (SOC)
  • Help facilitate monthly Cybersecurity Nexus Information Sessions (evening events)
  • Help promote the use of the Cyber Range to current students
  • Help with grant research and reporting
  • Help organize and promote Cybersecurity Center events
  • Support the Cybersecurity Center team in administrative tasks
  • Help manage and update our contact data on prospective students and industry partners
  • Help coordinate and execute activities like:
  • Visits by executives and professionals
  • Mock interview events
  • Seminars
  • Workshops or other training
  • Other special events
  • Perform research and analysis on other cybersecurity centers
  • Willingness to work effectively and dedicate yourself to accomplish goals and get positive results
  • Strong desire to learn along with professional drive
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong spreadsheet skills
  • Ability to take direction and absorb information quickly
  • Ability to take initiative
  • Good organizational skills 
  • Attention to detail
  • Current enrollment in a related CSU program (marketing, communication, business, etc.)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and potentially weekends
  • CompTIA Network+ and Security+ certification
  • INE eJPT certification
  • Experience with CyberBit¿s Cyber Range a plus

 

Payment will be at the standard hourly rate for undergraduate student assistants (currently, $15 per hour). This position can work up to 19 hours per week.
