Job Summary
Auburn University Libraries is seeking applicants for the position of Student Assistant to assist faculty and staff with daily, routine library operations. Applicants in Special Collections and Archives should be available to work during the Department’s hours of operation for the summer semester: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.

Essential Functions
Student Assistants in Special Collections have varied responsibilities including, but not limited to:
  • Shelving and filing rare books and archival materials
  • Scanning archival materials for inclusion in AU Libraries Digital Collections
  • Using audio equipment and computer programs to digitize historic media collections
  • Serving Special Collections and Archive patrons by retrieving requested materials
  • Entering archival data into spreadsheets and other content management applications
Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled undergraduate student at Auburn University
Expectations:
  • Students must enter their hours of availability when applying
  • Report for the shift on time
  • Interest in public service and delivery of quality customer service
  • Be willing to work as a team member while interacting with faculty, staff, and students
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Dependability, multi-tasking, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment are imperative
  • A commitment to an inclusive and diverse campus environment is essential. Job frequently requires standing, walking, reaching, balancing, hearing, handling objects with hands, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
Pay Rate $7.50/hour
Work Hours Students are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week depending on the availability
