Job Summary
 

The Student Assistant will support the Office of Research as a Research Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Spring 2024.

The Research Assistant will provide support for Project REACH (Racial Equity to Advance Community Health) Bulloch County. The purpose of Project REACH is to provide evidence-based strategies to policymakers designed to reduce racial health disparities in Statesboro and Bulloch County, Georgia. The project centers on convening a multi-sector team of local community stakeholders to engage in an intensive, rigorous process to identify and prioritize racial health disparities, identify laws and policies that may contribute to the racial health disparities through structural racism, and develop community-informed policy recommendations to redress structural racism and experience health equity.
Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.


Responsibilities
 
  • Coordinates logistics for focus groups and multi-sector team meetings
  • Takes notes during focus groups
  • Analyzes data and prepares for multi-sector team meetings
  • Conducts literature reviews

Shift Specifics

  • May work up to 170 hours
  • Flexible with schedule of availability

Required Qualifications
 

Educational Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Preferred Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Currently enrolled as a Graduate Student

Proposed Salary
 

$20.00 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
