Job Summary: The Student Assistant supports the mission and goals of the Alabama Digital Humanities Center (ADHC) by assisting with various digital humanities activities on the campus of The University of Alabama. Assists in producing web content, teaching workshops, supporting various digital humanities projects hosted by the ADHC, and helping during the ADHC’s annual Digitorium Conference.
Additional Department Summary: The duration of this appointment is for Summer 2024 and Spring 2025, with the possibility to continue based on performance and availability of budget.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Current University of Alabama student. Basic coding experience with one or more of the following: Python, R, HTML, CSS, JavaScript. Experience creating digital learning objects. Experience creating web content, performing basic computational and web development coding tasks, and assisting with workshops on basic Digital Humanities topics. Experience with applications such as Adobe Premiere, Canva, and WordPress. Willingness to learn, be creative, and to share knowledge through tutorials, consultations, and teaching.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with metadata, qualitative research, data visualization, geographic information systems, graphic design, workflow development in Office 356 environment, and/or project management. Interest in Digital Humanities work.
Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
