The Energy Conversion Group at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) is seeking a highly motivated student assistant to contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of bioenergy and building technologies. This is a temporary student assistant position for the duration of the summer semester. The successful candidate will gain valuable experience in data analysis and engineering, as well as exposure to a variety of projects and technologies. Essential Duties:

  • Analyze and interpret data collected from LabVIEW using Python programming
  • Prepare reports and visualizations to communicate data findings to team members and stakeholders
  • Identify trends and patterns in data to inform decision-making and problem-solving
  • Collaborate with engineering and research teams to understand project requirements and objectives
  • Develop scripts and tools to automate data analysis and visualization processes
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of data analysis and reports

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in engineering or a related field of study
  • Strong proficiency in Python programming
  • Familiarity with LabVIEW or similar data acquisition software is a plus
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles and terminology
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week during the summer semester.

  • Brookhaven Laboratory is committed to providing fair, equitable and competitive compensation. The full salary range for this position is $16.00 - $28.75 p/h. Salary offers will be commensurate with the final candidate’s qualification, education and experience and considered with the internal peer group.
