Student Assistant - Athletics Equipment Manager (Spring)

Job Duties:

• Assist with all facets of athletic equipment and uniforms assigned varsity intercollegiate athletic teams. 
• Ensures that all equipment and uniform needs are met for assigned sports' practices and competitions. 
• Adheres to policies and procedures regarding distribution of equipment for assigned intercollegiate sports. 
• Adheres to OSHA requirements, and NCAA regulations with regards to equipment safety. 
• Assist with all laundry room operations. Stores necessary laundry and supplies for use by Athletic Department staff. 
• Assist with facility event set-up for all varsity intercollegiate athletic teams.
• Perform other duties as assigned. 
• Applicants will be assigned to any of the 21 varsity sports within the OU Athletics Department. Assignment is determined by head coaches and full-time Equipment staff members.

Required Education: Must be enrolled in the Spring term as a student in good standing at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status. 

• Must attach Spring 2024 class schedule.

Skills:

• 
  Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays if needed. 
  
• 
  Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills both orally and in writing.
  
• 
  Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. 
  
• 
  Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and the Internet. 
  
• 
  Knowledge of intercollegiate athletic programs, and specifically equipment room operations. 
  
• 
  Applicants must be team oriented, accountable and able to work independently. 
  

Advertised Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand for long period of time
• Must be able to bend, reach, climb, and touch  
• Must be willing to participate in activities related to practice including but not limited to shagging balls, collecting uniforms, setting up necessary sports equipment

Department Preferences:

• Experience as an equipment manager, youth sports coach/referee, or student-athlete.
