Summary of Job Duties:

The Student Assistance Coordinator (SAC) is responsible for coordinating care and advocacy for students via the campus Early Alert system. The candidate is also responsible for coordinating student onboarding (New Student Orientation). The SAC works by fostering collaborative relationships across campus departments to create a sense of belonging and support for students experiencing mental health, medical, financial, or personal issues that put students at risk of failing semester courses or withdrawing from campus. The Student Assistance Coordinator is tasked with supporting UAPTC retention and completion rates by providing case management care through the institution’s Early Alert system. This position reports directly to the Dean of Student Affairs.
Skills
The Student Assistance Coordinator should demonstrate effective communication that foster support through campus and community referrals to agencies and departments that aid and address the many challenges students may face. The candidate should also demonstrate a basic understanding of mental health and medical responses that are effective when intervening in behavioral issues that may impact academic progress. The candidate should have a firm method for organizing their work and events.
Duties
The Student Assistance Coordinator is responsible for the following duties:
• Responding to Faculty, Staff, and Student reports submitted to the Early Alert system.
• Coordinate and oversee UAPTC New Student Orientation and student onboarding.
• Assigning and following-up on interventions that assist students experiencing academic, medical, financial, or personal struggles preventing academic success.
• Tracking and Coordinating data related to UAPTC’s Early Alert System.
• Navigating and tracking systems, resources, and procedures that guide students through the campus policies that offer pathways to success.
• Provide regular trainings that inform Faculty and Staff of the Early Alert system and the benefits demonstrated by its effective use on campus.
• Coordinate and regularly update materials and documents utilized by campus and community support systems.
• Provide assistance to the office of Academic Advising & Career Services as an Academic Advisor during peak registration seasons.
• Work from two campus locations (UAPTC North Campus & UAPTC South Campus), when needed.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in College Counseling, Social Work, or another related field
  • Minimum of 2 years combined experience working in Higher education and/or Secondary Education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in College Counseling, Social Work, or another related field (or currently in progress of completing a Master’s Degree).
  • 4 years combined experience working in Higher Education and/or Secondary Education.
  • Experience coordinating care as a Social Worker, Case Management, or Counselor.
