Ambassador & Event Planners of Esports and Co-Curricular Innovation

The University of Oklahoma Division of Student Affairs is looking for undergraduate and graduate students who are located in the Norman area to serve as ambassadors and event planners for Esports and Co-Curricular Innovation. Ambassadors are responsible for arranging virtual and physical events for campus and fostering a specific community and culture within gaming.

Overview

Program Culture

You are responsible for fostering a positive and inclusive culture within a focused community of the OU Gaming Club. This includes creating a collaborative and welcoming environment for all members, events, and accessibility to physical resources in our lab and event spaces. This team is the epicenter of the ECCI department and is intended to ensure gaming inspired programming stays available and welcoming for all gamers.

Availability & Communication

You should maintain regular communication with your supervisor, the Community and Labs Coordinator. This includes attending regularly scheduled meetings and staying attentive and responsive via communication networks such as Discord and email.

Outreach

The community team is the primary contact point to the entire ECCI development and should always be hyper responsive to topics of philanthropic collaboration, opportunity to support youth and K-12 based development, and actively look at ways of contributing back to opportunities of need within our regional community.

Collaboration

The abilities of our department include producing live coverage of matches, putting on community events, featuring our programs and teams in articles and videos, and promoting both gaming and esports culture. Our community department holds the keys to enable the ability to make all those things easier through building fan engagement, utilizing our spaces, and ensuring we’re allowing our supporters and future community members the ability to have a touchpoint into one of OU’s largest single topic communities. 

Job Duties:

  • Facilitate virtual, physical, and hybrid gaming/esports event programming

  • Maintain activity within Discord to build a community around a specific game/energy

  • Coordinate with our coaches and collegiate rosters to build communities and support for varsity and academy teams

  • Ensure compliance with Title IX and other University policies & procedures

  • Work a flexible schedule when needed

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Required Education: Must be a current OU Student currently enrolled in the Spring Term. Applicants must be located in the Norman or OKC Metropolitan area to be considered for employment.


  • Must attach Spring 2024 class schedule.
  • Must be in the U Esports & Co-Curricular Innovation Program

  • Indicated willingness to learn proper event planning and procedure
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; Impeccable presentation and public relations skills; strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Discord for communications and an understanding of social media and live stream platforms
  • Strong process improvement skills/experience
  • Ability to work well with others in a collaborative and respectful manner
  • Knowledge and understanding of Esports, the latest gaming technology, and trends

  • Driver's License 

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to move, engage in repetitive motions including movements of the hands, wrists, or fingers, and communicate effectively including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others both verbally and in writing.

Department Preferences:

  • Previous experience in fundraising and sponsorship solicitation
  • Previous experience in campus programming and/or facilitating events
  • Previous experience working with others
