Position Announcement

The AI Tutor project is seeking a dedicated and innovative student to take on the role of Project Manager. The AI Tutor project is an innovative educational initiative aimed at integrating an AI-driven tutoring system within the Canvas learning management system. The goal is to enhance student interaction with course materials, leveraging AI technology for a more engaging learning experience. This project is at the forefront of educational technology and aims to set a precedent for future AI integration in various academic settings.


Summary of Responsibilities

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Technical Team, under the guidance of Dr. Ahmed Alsharif, to develop and refine the AI-based tutoring system.
  • Project Leadership: Assume responsibility for leading the AI Tutor project, setting direction, and ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
  • Planning and Organization: Develop project needed plans, and timelines. Ensure the project remains on track and within scope.
  • Team Support: Act as a central support figure for the project team, facilitating collaboration, and ensuring the team has the resources needed to succeed.
  • Project Monitoring: Continuously monitor project progress against established benchmarks and timelines, implementing corrective actions as necessary to address any deviations.
  • Communication: Maintain open and effective communication channels within the project, prepare periodical reports and ensure all parties are informed of project status, achievements, and challenges.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify potential project risks, and manage any issues that arise, ensuring minimal impact on project continuity and success.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Student: Applicants must be actively enrolled at UVU.
  • Technology Management Major: Candidate should be a current student of Technology Management department. Has taken or is currently taking Tech 3400 “Project Management” course.
  • Demonstrated Interest: Interest in managing technological projects.


Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

  • Project Management: Ability to manage technological projects. Experience/Foundation in technological project management is preferred.
  • Project Management Tools Familiarity: Knowledge of project management tools and application are highly desirable.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication abilities are crucial for effective collaboration with both technical and academic teams.
