Overview of Bursar/Student Accounts Clerk

The Office of the Bursar is seeking a Bursar/Student Accounts Clerk.  The Bursar/Student Accounts Clerk will process window transactions, respond to emails from students and parents in the department email, and provide excellent customer service within the Bursar.  This person will also gain general knowledge of the functions of departments within the Enrollment Service Center.

 

This position has the flexibility to work in a hybrid work environment.

Pay:

  • $15.50/hour

 

Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30pm

Duties and Responsibilities of Bursar/Student Accounts Clerk
  • Process student accounts activities and maintain student records
  • Process window transactions
  • Answer all questions that students have when they call or direct them to someone who can 
  • Issue manual check refunds and credit card refunds for students
  • Disburse checks to students as needed
  • Process Financial Aid Advance upon approval
  • Balance/close out cash drawer at the end of the day and prepare bank cash deposits
  • Deposit checks in ITMS system for deposit daily
  • Enter encumbrances/holds on student information system
  • Process Undeliverable Mail
  • Prepare banks and deposits for Student Organizations and Athletics
  • Process Business Department transactions
  • Set up manual payment arrangement with students
  • May serve as Notary for students and staff.  Licensing will be provided.
  • Order departmental supplies
  • Provide customer service within the Bursar(Student Accounts) 
  • Prepare bulk mailings
  • Counsel students, parents and others concerning their account balances
  • Set up appointments for students with the Bursar
  • Provide assistance to our customers in accessing and processing payment options using current technology
  • Answer Student Accounts emails in a timely fashion
  • Generate and mail itemized receipts
  • Count/Deposit coins received from other departments
  • At all times provide accurate, courteous and timely service
  • At all times serve as an active, supportive and professional member of the Finance and Business Services Department team

Education of Bursar/Student Accounts Clerk
  • High school diploma/GED required

Experience of Bursar/Student Accounts Clerk
  • One year of cashiering experience or money handling required

Core Competencies of Bursar/Student Accounts Clerk
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office
  • Must have strong customer service skills
  • Must be able to work overtime during peak registration periods
  • Must be able to work at least one evening per week or as needed
  • Ability to work in a cross-trained environment with enrollment services
