Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Finance team within the Division of Business Affairs supports the University’s mission, strategic vision, goals, and objectives by providing key financial services efficiently and effectively to students, the campus community, and federal, state, and other key university stakeholders.
The Student Accounts and University Cashier Office creates, prepares, analyzes, refunds, and reports on a variety of financial transactions and supplemental data for student receivables and serves as the central depository for university revenue, including daily department receipts and student tuition, fees, and other charges.
Student Accounts and University Cashiers Office are also responsible for processing all university student billing; student refunding; student refunding third party billing’ student and non-student collection activities; campus department feeds; title IV financial aid accounting, reporting, and related drawdowns; and month-end fiscal year-end closing.

Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Student Accounts Billing Specialist is responsible for the following:
  • Processing monthly bills for traditional students
  • Placing holds on students’ accounts
  • Compiling student lists for non-payment drop process
  • Assisting with student refunds
  • Processing tuition waivers and tuition reimbursement forms
  • Testing for upgrades and efficiency processes
  • Assisting with orientations and fairs
  • Analyzing billing and transactions on students’ accounts
  • Responding to inquiries from campus departments, parents, and students
  • Working closely with Financial Aid, Registrar’s Office, and Student Affairs
  • Managing the Teal Pay Payment Plans for the University including customer services inquires
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred education, professional skills and experience
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • Experience with Banner Finance or similar ERP or Oracle system
  • Experience in higher education or a state agency
  • Experience with TouchNet or other payment gateway system
  • Ability to analyze processes, detect inefficiencies, and determine solutions
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate to all organizational levels, students, and parents
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and the ability to effectively communicate via phone, email, and face-to-face
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
