Department Summary
Student Accounting is deeply committed to delivering the highest quality of innovative student account and financial services to theUNTcommunity, helping ensure UNT’s enrollment and financial success. Our team is responsible for assessing and collecting all tuition and fees, processing waivers, exemptions, veterans educational benefits, third-party sponsorships, tuition benefit programs, refunds, departmental deposit and financial services, and tax reporting.
Position Overview
This position serves as part of the Sponsored Programs team within Student Accounting and functions as an administrator for third party billing and sponsorship activity on student accounts and provides administrative coordination to campus and external partners in the sponsored programs area.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with 2 years experience in accounting, billing/receivable or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Job Duties


o
Responsible for delivering exceptional customer service to all internal and external customers. Maintains positive interactions with others. Ensures own assignments and those of their team are completed accurately and in a timely manner with minimal follow-up required. Provides professional, clear and accurate verbal and written communication. Advises leadership on opportunities for enhanced services.
o

Demonstrates a commitment to the mission and vision of Student Accounting, the Division of Enrollment, and the University of North Texas. Serves as an example of positive engagement in the department through active participation in meetings, within committees, and by assisting others.

Must maintain a working knowledge of the PeopleSoft system, navigate the system, comprehend and explain student accounts, troubleshoot issues and understand processes which affect the student account.
o
Completes assignments accurately and in a timely manner with minimal follow-up required. Demonstrates initiative by taking action to provide customer service within scope of position and actively seeks additional assignments from supervisor.
o
Completes routine operations of a third-party receivable operations for all domestic, and institutional sponsorships programs for tuition, fees, and other charges.
o
Collaborates with Assistant Director in the development and management of relationships with multiple external corporations and/or third-party administration agencies to ensure that sponsored billing agreements are administered in compliance with sponsor agreements, university policies, and best practice.
o
Serves as back-up to Sponsored Programs Lead; providing assistance and customer service related to state and institutional waivers/exemptions programs, employee tuition benefits (ETB), International sponsored billing, and Toulouse Grad School’s Tuition Benefit Program (TBP).
o
Maintains subject-matter expert knowledge regarding sponsorship programs, pre-paid tuition plans (Texas Guaranteed Tuition Plan, Texas Tuition Promise Fund) policies, and procedures as appropriate and give students and campus partners accurate information regarding the use of these plans.
o
Leads the billing and invoicing processes for all Texas pre-paid tuition plans. Following credit, charges, and applicable refunds throughout lifecycle of all third-party charges. Submit annual tuition plan surveys to each tuition plan, respond to inquiries from plan administrators upon request.
o
Maintains subject-matter expert knowledge regarding non-contracted third-party sponsorships, 529 college savings plans policies, and procedures as appropriate. Facilitates billing and student account coordination and specifics as needed.
o
Research student accounts receivable and sponsored billing trends and best practices to ensure that all sponsored billing functions are administered in an effective, compliant, and proactive manner.
