Position Summary:

The Student Accounts Specialist is responsible for processing student financial accounts at an institution of higher education. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with account questions and provide guidance
  • Answers and disseminates departmental telephone calls
  • Composes, types, and edits various documents and/or jobs
  • Meets and directs visitors to appropriate areas
  • Processes incoming student/departmental forms and enters necessary information to file or start proper process flow
  • Processes incoming return mail by entering appropriate information and then filing according to standards
  • Reviews and disseminates departmental faxes
  • Collects daily departmental mail, shredding, and scanning
  • Reviews bad address reports and enters information as necessary
  • Completes and mails return check notifications
  • Receives and reviews scanned departmental documents
  • Other duties as assigned


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of student financial aid programs. Knowledge of collection procedures and methods
Ability to participate in student account activities. Ability to compile and report information and statistics from student accounts
Ability to explain policies and regulations to students concerning accounts


General Days/Hours:

Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a High School Diploma
Two (2) years of experience in a specialized or related area applicable to work performed
Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee
