Description
Raritan Headwaters Association (RHA), is a non-profit leader in science, policy and stakeholder-engagement aimed at effective protection and restoration of watershed health. Based in Bedminster, NJ, RHA has worked for over 60 years in the Upper Raritan River headwaters region as well as at the state-level to bring water quality science into the decision-making process. As part of a dynamic team of scientists and conservation practitioners, the Restoration Coordinator leads RHA’s program to restore riparian forests and remove dams. Responsibilities: Coordinate implementation of Riparian Restoration and Dam Removal project in the Upper Raritan Watershed Work with RHA staff and regional partners to plan and implement 8 miles of riparian buffer restoration by planting native trees and shrubs in the North Branch Raritan River WatershedAssist partner agencies in planning, implementation, and outreach for 2 dam removal projects in the Upper Raritan Watershed Develop a 4-year project management plan for the project, based on grant guidelines Develop, implement and maintain the project budget including managing accounting for project expenses Develop project partners, partner expectations, and formal agreements Advocate for the project via meetings, workshops, press releases and maintaining a page on RHA’s website Establish and support relationships with stakeholders, partners, and landowners through communications and updates Serve as a resource for partners in every aspect of project implementation Develop training materials and host trainings Develop and regularly update records, riparian buffer targets, including location, mapping, landowners, partners, miles of stream, estimated number of trees and the species, cost, number of project participants/volunteers and images Conduct site visits before, during and after project implementation (dam removal and riparian restoration plantings) Coordinate ordering/reserving and maintaining plant stock, equipment and project materials in sync with project timeline Procure and manage local volunteers and other labor including RHA volunteers Oversee RHA equipment loans for projects Ensure survivorship data is collected by partners at each site annually Regularly report on project milestones to Science Director and fulfill funder’s reporting requirements
Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor of Science in ecology or related field and 3 years work experience as a conservation professional; demonstrated success at organizing and managing projects involving multiple partners, stakeholders, and personnel; knowledge of regional ecosystems and conservation issues; skilled at using ArcGIS preferred; excellent written and verbal communication skills
