Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
The South Carolina Teacher Education Advancement Consortium through Higher Education Research (SC TEACHER) Strategy & Operations Manager will be responsible for maintaining/revising/developing SC TEACHER organizational and operational practices and procedures; managing the SC TEACHER budget, contracts with service providers, and invoice review, approval, and payment process; and assist with meeting all State of SC and USC compliance and reporting requirements. This position will oversee the coordination of activities among staff, partners and supporters, funders, and other supports for SC TEACHER; managing coordination of all organizational components and entities that comprise SC TEACHER, including meetings, training, webinars, conferences, and presentations.
Due to the state-wide reach of SC TEACHER, the Strategy & Operations Manager must ensure that schedules are coordinated and that project activity timelines are developed, maintained, adjusted as needed, and completed in a timely manner to ensure success. Internal to the university system alone are many aspects to manage including updating inventory and ordering supplies, tracking expenses, assisting with paperwork processing, fielding questions from project staff and Consortium constituents related to processes and procedures, etc. The Strategy & Operations Manager is responsible for taking and/or filing detailed/action-oriented notes in shared electronic files from various meetings and events and also takes primary responsibility for preparation, planning, scheduling and hosting meetings (virtual and F2F). Additionally, this position will provide admin support to the Executive Director (and other staff as needed), thus requiring a sophisticated skill set for navigating and trouble-shooting a variety of details and factors that impact coordination work flow. Success in this role requires a high skillset in written and oral communication, coordination, and organization.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and 3 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Track record of managing projects
  • Highly skilled in use of Basecamp (or willingness to learn) as project management tool for consistent and transparent communications to all team members
  • Proactive, effective collaborator with individuals in multiple roles, including educators, staff and consultants, and partners
  • Capacity for conducting detail-oriented work while steering toward a larger vision
  • Knowledge of P20 education context preferred
  • Knowledge of state budgeting and legislative processes preferred
  • Open to taking on new challenges, learning new skills, and exploring new ways of doing things
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Understanding of the education system/community in SC
  • Understanding of state funding allocations process and reporting requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use Microsoft Office, Internet search engines, social media platforms, and other widely-used computer programs and applications such as Basecamp, Google, Teams, and Zoom.
  • High skillset in written and oral communication, coordination, and organization (i.e., demonstrated effectiveness as an oral and written communicator at a college graduate or higher level)
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment
