The Strategic Communications Coordinator is an integral part of the University Relations team and is responsible for developing strategic marketing content to help promote the university on social media, website, video, online advertising, and print materials. Social media skills are a must as this role monitors, posts, and engages with our audience on various social channels and tracks data analytics. This position also coordinates job requests from campus constituents that require content creation.
Responsibilities include maintaining an editorial calendar for story ideas to be promoted on social media as well as in traditional media outlets, working alongside the communications manager and department director, collaborating with students, faculty, and staff to publicize and promote events, research, accomplishments, awards and initiatives through news releases and for stories in university publications.
This position requires strong creative writing skills, the ability to create relationships, and the ability to manage time well, and to consistently meet deadlines. A Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field and a minimum of 3 years experience in marketing communications, or a Bachelor's degree in science or engineering and a minimum of 3 years experience in marketing and communications is required; Master's degree is preferred.
