Position Summary


The incumbent is responsible for providing overall support in the stockroom. The ISA II is responsible for supporting courses and research. Incumbent manages, organizes, and coordinates safety forms and records from classroom and research laboratories. They monitor functionality of shared lab equipment (deep freezers, incubators, centrifuges, etc.) and organize scheduling of repairs with product representatives. Additionally, they organize and document training of students, staff, and faculty for equipment located in shared teaching/research spaces. The ISA II is responsible for managing reservations and maintaining of departmental laptops, assisting the Stockroom IST with inventory, shopping, ordering and off-campus errands, and serving as a back-up at the Stockroom dispensing window, coordinating documentation and organization of safety training for usage of teaching and research lab spaces. The incumbent assists with organizing and removal of biohazardous and hazardous waste.
The incumbent also occasionally supports faculty and staff with courses and research.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,398.00 - $5,334.00 per month 


Hiring Range: $3398.00 - $3600.00 per month, commensurate with education, experience, skills, and training.

Department Information 


The Department of Biological Sciences at California State University, Sacramento is one of the largest programs on campus, with approximately 1,400 undergraduate and 60 Master’s students, 32 permanent faculty, approximately 40 temporary faculty, and 11 technical and administrative support team members. Most of the Department is found in the new Tschannen Science Complex, and courses cover the range of biology, including evolution, microbiology, molecular biology, cellular biology, genetics, anatomy, physiology, ecology, and conservation biology.


Minimum Qualifications 


Knowledges and Abilities:
Knowledge of the procedures and practices relating to providing support services. Knowledge of procedures and practices related to ordering, issue, and inventory.
Ability to learn quickly the names, uses and care of common types of materials, supplies, and equipment used in the instructional program to which assigned. Ability to plan, organize, and follow a schedule of activities. Ability to learn to operate equipment and to make adjustments. Ability to maintain records and project needs. Ability to correct and perform simple arithmetic calculations. Ability to read and write at a level suitable for performance on the job.

Experience:
Equivalent to one year of experience performing support services for an instructional program and involving such activities as preparing, producing, dispensing or storing materials, supplies, and equipment.

Equivalent to one year of experience in ordering, purchasing, accounting or in office work related to technical materials, supplies, or equipment or in an office which provided similar services to a technical function or unit may be substituted for six months of the experience.

Equivalent to two years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive

Required Qualifications 


1. Ability to obtain and manage a Procurement Card and help with off-campus shopping and pick-up for course support.
2. Ability to develop collaborative working relationship with various constituents and support faculty and staff.
3. Ability to monitor functionality of shared lab equipment (deep freezers, incubators, centrifuges, etc.) and organize scheduling of repairs with product representatives.
4. Ability to manage, organize, and coordinate safety forms and records for classroom and research laboratories.
5. Ability to organize and document training of students, staff, and faculty for equipment located in shared teaching/research spaces.
6. Knowledge of basic biohazardous and hazardous waste protocols
7. Good communication skills (written or verbal)
8. Ability to work in a diverse environment.
OTHER
9. Ability to work flexible schedule that may involve evenings and weekends as needed.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Ability to pass background check.

Preferred Qualifications 


10. Knowledge of basic biological supplies to perform inventory of stockroom supplies
11. Evidence of proficiency with basic maintenance and upkeep of laptop computers and other electronic resources for course-related activities
12. Experience performing support services in a field related to Biological Sciences involving such activities as preparing, producing, dispensing, or storing materials, supplies, and equipment.
13. Ability to perform routine calibration, maintenance service, and repair on laboratory equipment and instrumentation such as balances, incubators, pH meters, blood pressure cuffs.
