Job Summary

This position has primary responsibility to manage the undergraduate program, graduate programs and student support services unit within the Plant Sciences unit. Management duties include the following: Develop, implement and manage major outreach and retention programs and activities as well as the administration of academic programs and policies.

This position will also provide advising to undergraduate programs as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to frequently sit and occasionally work at a computer for extended periods of time.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Required:

 

Minimum Education/Experience

  • Demonstrated experience working independently, without close supervision. Demonstrated experience handling conflict pro-actively and respectfully to achieve positive results and enhance a positive work environment.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills to clearly and effectively interact with individuals of varying ages and cultural backgrounds and perspectives to research, secure, and/or provide information and resolve problems, chair meetings and give presentations to a wide audience.

 

  • Current knowledge of university governance and administrative structures in public universities. Demonstrated knowledge of, the requirements, regulations, and policies related to undergraduate, and graduate programs, and student financial aid processes. Knowledge of university regulations, procedure, and academic requirements.

 

  • Demonstrated expertise in using computer systems for word processing, database creation and management, student information systems (BANNER preferred), desktop publishing, internet, e-mail and calendaring. Skill to maintain information in web site format desirable. Writing skills to prepare proposals, correspondence, reports, procedures, agreements, training documents, and program publications.

 

  • Demonstrated skills to plan and conduct large and small group meetings and workshops for students, staff, faculty and community. Demonstrated skill in event management, publicity and evaluation and organizing and completing diverse job components simultaneously. Ability to direct and accomplish multiple tasks with changing priorities.

 

  • Skills to assess budgetary needs and oversee budgetary allocations.

 

  • Strong analytical skills to analyze and evaluate program requirements, information, student needs or problems.
