The Departments of Economics and History are teaching and research units within the College of Letters & Science. The Blue Cluster provides support to the following programs: Department of Economics, Department of History, Military Science, East Asian Studies, The Hemispheric Institute on the Americas, Jewish Studies, History Project, California Social Science History Project, the Center for Poverty Research. Studies, Jewish Studies, and Military Science. This position is one of three that supports the Undergraduate Advising Center for Economics, History and East Asian Studies and reports to the Undergraduate Programs Supervisor. The Economics, History, and East Asian Studies Advising Center supports 2200 declared undergraduate majors. |

Under general supervision, responsible for providing advising and undergraduate program administration to the College of L&S Social Science Blue Cluster Undergraduate Advising Center. Provide comprehensive and advanced academic advising on a wide range of complex issues to a diverse population, including a significant number of international students. Direct students to appropriate resources, provide administrative support to the Economics and History Departments, maintain student and instructional databases, and create and implement outreach and recruitment activities. Smoking and tobacco use are strictly prohibited in indoor and outdoor spaces, parking lots, residential space, and University vehicles. https://ucdavispolicy.ellucid.com/documents/view/271 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education/Experience: · Experience counseling and advising students in a university setting including academic planning and course selection techniques, study skills, and policies and procedures. · Experience assessing college transcripts and accurately calculating course grades and grade point averages, balances, and deficiencies. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA): · Knowledge of university procedures related to undergraduate students’ major requirements. · Interpersonal and communication skills to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the public. · Writing, editing and proofreading skills to answer correspondence, write reports and develop informational materials. · Workshop creation and presentation skills. · Computer skills using software programs (i.e. Microsoft Word and Excel) for word processing, maintaining databases, and accessing student information. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preferred Education/Experience: · Experience with Banner, OASIS, and ICMS. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA): · Knowledge of campus administrative reporting deadlines and of procedures related to advising and instructional processes. · Skills to retrieve and assemble information, correlate and analyze data, and develop statistics from a variety of campus sources. · Knowledge of university, college, major, design, general education requirements and their application to specific programs of major.
