Statistics and Biostatistics Analyst 2 to support biomedical research projects across the health sciences fields as a member of the Division of Neurogenetics in the Department of Neurology. Assists with overseeing biomedical databases for assigned research projects consults with study investigators and researchers to determine study requirements to develop analysis and data interpretation methodologies works closely with team members and collaborators to design, develop, and implement analytical plans using bioinformatics, machine learning and statistical programming. Executes analysis and interprets analyses of research data using descriptive statistics and basic inferential tests review data to ensure consistent accurate and valid conclusions and identify data discrepancies. Help with the evaluation and deployment of new software in servers and workstations. Develop data cleaning and analytical pipelines. Works with data managers to develop resolution prepares interim and final results including tables and figures and provides principal investigators charts, tables, and written description of methods and statistical analyses used in analysis. Draft and and present slides for internal, collaborative, and scientific meetings, discuss results in meetings. Assists with preparation of journal articles, technical reports, progress reports, grants and other materials for publication and presentation. attends project meetings.


Minimum Education Required
Masters degree in Computer science, bioinformatics, Data Science, Biostatistics, Machine Learning, Genetics, Genomics or related field plus two years of experience; OR Ph.D. in any of these fields; OR combined education and experience of 4 years.

Required Qualifications
Masters degree in Computer science, bioinformatics, Data Science, Biostatistics, Machine Learning, Genetics, Genomics or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required additional coursework. Analytical thinking, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills. Thorough comprehension of computational biology, probabilistic models, statistics, machine learning, and discrete mathematics. Demonstrated knowledge of standard statistical analysis methodologies with knowledge of at least two statistical programming languages such as R, Python and Linux Shell scripting. Thorough comprehension of computational biology, probabilistic models, statistics, machine learning, and discrete mathematics. Capability to analyze complex datasets, such as genome sequences, human genetic research, and studies involving model organisms, along with the ability to convey this data clearly and succinctly. Competence in creating bioinformatics pipelines using domain-specific languages toolkit (Snakemake, Nextflow). Required three years of experience in Bioinformatic approaches to leverage Single-cell molecular data to study Neurodegeneration or other human disease. Proved experience in tasks related to single-cell QC, cleaning, clustering, cell-type annotation, differential expression (Generalized Linear Models), integration, cellular crosstalk, network analyses, and other non-clustering approaches. Ideally, Candidates will have experience using spatially resolved transcriptomics (Visium 10x Genomics, MERFISH) to gain valuable insights and uncover spatial patterns Required experience as a Bioinformatician with experience in managing large data-sets and utilizing computational biology software packages. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
