Job Description Summary:
Under guidance with faculty biostatistician/data scientist; carry out data preparation responsibilities related to basic, clinical and/or population health research; perform introductory to intermediate-level statistical analysis and programming associated with research projects; and assist with the preparation of written reports, manuscripts, and grant applications with investigators.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:

Master’s Degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Mathematics or related field or undergraduate degree with at least 7-10 years of relevant experience. 

  • Work Experience:

Five years of experience with mainframe and/or PC databases, document processing, and statistical software such as SAS, R, Stata, SPSS.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Work Experience: 7-10 years of experience with mainframe and/or PC databases, document processing and statistical software.
  • 5 years’ experience in statistical consulting, data analysis and design related to basic, clinical and/or population health.   

Job Duties Outlined:

  • Under supervision, compiles, analyzes, and reports statistical data for various projects including, but not limited to, manual and computer-aided data abstraction and evaluation, clinical trial design, computerized imaging, bioinformatics, and computational genomics.
  • Assists with the preparation of statistical considerations for protocols and grants.
  • Carries out intermediate level statistical analyses under the supervision of a Biostatistics faculty member.
  • Assists with the creation, verification, testing, modifying, and certification of the eCRF creation process related to clinical research to ensure quality data collection.
  • Applies intermediate level statistical methods, simulation models, and skilled statistical programming as needed.
  • Assesses relevant literature as well as existing data, evaluates the quality of data used in reports and assists with preparation and distribution of data for committee and scientific meetings.
  • Attends project meetings with collaborators, with a Biostatistics & Data Science faculty member.
  • Prepares written reports, manuscripts, and grant applications for investigators under the supervision of Biostatistics & Data Science faculty.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
