Department Description | The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, founded in 1975, is a National Cancer Institute (NCI)- designated comprehensive cancer center. The Center’s mission is to reduce cancer occurrence and death in North Carolina and the nation through research, treatment, training and outreach. The Office of Clinical Translational Research (OCTR) was founded in 1998 to facilitate the breast cancer research efforts of Dr. Lisa Carey, MD. Since its inception, the office has expanded to include the clinical research efforts of Dr Claire Dees, MD; Dr. Hyman Muss, MD; Dr. Milowski, MD; and is operated by a staff of more than 10 clinical research professionals. Although the OCTR primarily manages correlative breast cancer research studies, it also provides services and support to investigators from other clinical concentrations. |

Position Description | THIS IS A TIME-LIMITED POSITION WITH AN ESTIMATED DURATION OF 3 YEARS. The purpose of this position is to (1) manage and maintain several databases that contain clinical data for research purposes (grants, abstracts, manuscripts) and (2) to serve as Statistical Research Assistant (under the guidance of a Senior Statistician) in the analysis of data drawn from these databases (for abstracts, manuscripts, grant submissions). The databases already exist in REDCap but often have new participants and/or new variables added. In addition, as a Statistical Research Assistant, the person in this position will have the opportunity to assist with co-authoring on abstracts and manuscripts. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements | Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities | Experience with database creation, data extraction (e.g., data from Epic@UNC), management and retrieval. SAS. Coursework in statistics. |
Preferred Qualifications | Interest in clinical trials research; excellent interpersonal communication skills; strong work ethic |
