This position will offer outstanding opportunities to develop independent research projects in statistical genetics, bioinformatics, epigenetics, and transcriptomics. Research in the laboratory examines the biologic basis of age associated health disparities using a translational approach spanning from clinical research to the bench in a targeted epidemiologic study, The Healthy Aging in Neighborhoods of Diversity across the Life Span (HANDLS) study (https://handls.nih.gov/ ). The HANDLS study is an ongoing population based longitudinal study with a wealth of data, which is available for analysis and to work with national and international genetic consortia. HANDLS has ongoing genome-wide association studies (GWAS), next generation sequencing projects, multi-omics projects, and DNA methylation projects that aim to understand aging and health disparities in various age-related diseases.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have less than 5 years of postdoctoral experience, a Ph.D. (or M.D.) degree and a strong background in population genetics, epidemiology, computational biology, or any related discipline. Applicants should have excellent skills in programming (e.g., R, Python or Perl) and in Linux working environment. Previous experience in genome-wide association analysis, gene expression or DNA methylation is preferred.
To Apply:
Salary commensurate with research experience, according to the NIH intramural pay scale. Interested applicants should e-mail a curriculum vitae, a brief description of their research interests, and 3 letters of reference to: Mrs. Dana Faulcon, National Institute on Aging, National Institutes of Health, 251 Bayview Blvd, Baltimore, Maryland 21224-6825.
