Primary Function of Organizational Unit
We train people correct technique for our Medical, Nursing, PA students, and Residents. Our program Includes students in the medical fields, College of Education, Nutrition, and many other disciplines.
These are trained to give physician-patient communication, history, and patient education and giving feedback.
Job Duties
This is Sporadic type of work. Schedules varies. (This is not a part-time position)
Training Assistants- PAT/PTA/(MU/GTA)/DAT-May have multiple pay rates.
All OCSAE training assistants: Physical Training assistants and Physical Assessors (PTA’s and PAT’s), Male Urogenital MU/Genital (G) Training Assistant (TA) and Dental Assessors (DAT’s) have certain core values. These instructors will utilize their own body as a correlated teaching tool for instruction during events and examinations. During times they will be a warm body for another instructor to use a demonstration.
Training assistants are people who are trained by this office in the basic techniques of performing complete physical examinations emphasizing technique only. They train the correct technique to perform a routine female gynecological (breast and pelvic) examination, and male genitalia and rectal examination, including physician-patient communication and patient education and giving feedback.
The Training assistants can serve multiple roles of model, instructor/teacher and assessor. The Training assistants are healthy, intelligent people who are trained in the basic techniques of performing a complete well-adult physical examination. The Training assistant acts as an interpreter for beginning learners to help explain the techniques of the examination in clear layman’s terms while reinforcing the medical terminology expected from a health care professional. The Training assistant is also trained in professional, objective positive feedback techniques to encourage the learner.
These assistants need articulate communication skills with adaptability for different styles. Other characteristics of Training assistants are dependability, professionalism, motivation, intelligence and a desire to learn and work with others. Clear and articulate communication skills with adaptability for different styles of personalities and learning styles. Positive and objective feedback skills to reinforce and encourage learning. It is also important the Training assistant be consistent and standardized in teaching and assessing skills.
Assistant responsibilities, but not limited to, will be to: set up their room(s) for these events, they will check the rooms to ensure they have proper lab supplies, medical supplies, and equipment & instruments required for the events. They will be responsible for breaking down the room and counting their instrument inventory after the events to ensure the equipment accounted for.
These assistants may have to handle basic program needs: make copies, check over paperwork for the events, modify a schedules (permission only by trainer/admin), use computer, use copier, assist team within office and/or program needs of ensuring exam and events are in order.

You will be a Standardized Patient and will utilize your own body as a correlated teaching tool for instruction during events and examinations.
Prefer have knowledge in a Medical type of field other standardized patient setting. Must be dependability, show professionalism, and a desire to learn and work with others. Clear and articulate communication skills with adaptability for different styles of personalities and learning styles.
