Staff Specialist Healthcare: In support of the Associate Chief Nursing Officer; Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital

  • Provides highly responsible complex administrative support for health system senior leadership. Coordinates the planning, development, and implementation of new or changed administrative policy and procedures, programs, projects, and activities. Provides staff support to executive groups, including coordination of agenda and assistance in preparing and reviewing materials for discussion. 
  • Employees in this classification typically analyze, compare, and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. 
  • Primary activities and decision-making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. 
  • Under FLSA, incumbents in this position meet the criteria for exempt status.
  • Work closely with the Children's and Women's (C&W) Associate Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) and C&W Administration on the successful implementation of patient, unit and institutional objectives and initiatives.
  • Coordinates the planning, organization, development, tracking and implementation of new or changed administrative policy and procedures, as assigned.
  • Facilitates or executes the coordination, development and administration of programs, projects and activities as assigned.
  • Represent the ACNO at various meetings as assigned.
  • Provides staff leadership and coordination to various Von Voigtlander and C&W initiatives, projects, and activities, as assigned. 
  • Executes timely organizational and tactical strategies to facilitate project completion.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan
  • Master's degree in nursing or related field such as health care administration, public health, or business
  • Bachelor's degree in management, health care or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years practicing / managing in a perinatal setting in a tertiary care environment
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with nurses, administrators, physicians, peers, and subordinates.
  • Demonstrated analytic skills of financial and clinical data.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office, and MiChart (Epic)
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a manner that fosters teambuilding and to provide visionary direction for team members.
  • Experience with change management process.
  • Lean training and experience
  • Evidence of successful implementation of initiatives positively impacting patient care

  • Expertise in perinatal nursing
  • Experience in a complex bargained for work environment.
  • Familiarity with the continuous quality improvement processes
  • Training and/or experience in process improvement
  • Demonstrated leadership in successful implementation of quality and safety effort.
  • Experience in fundamental aspects of root cause analysis and successful action planning.

Hours: 40 hours/week
Shift: Shift and hours will vary based on departmental needs
Probable Location: Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital, 9th floor.
