Position Description:

The Vaccine Branch, Center for Cancer Research (CCR), National Cancer Institute (NCI, National Institute of Health (NIH) is a national leader in biology and immunology. We are seeking an outstanding staff-scientist to carry out original, independent, and innovative laboratory studies in a stimulating research environment. The position is a non-tenure track position and is equivalent to a Research Associate/Research Assistant Profession in a university setting. This position is located on the campus of the NIH in Bethesda, Maryland.


Qualifications:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. as well as postdoctoral research experience (minimum of four years). The successful candidate will have expertise and a record of achievement in preclinical HIV/SIV vaccine development and evaluation of adaptive and innate immune responses elicited by vaccination.


The ideal candidate would also have expertise in the non-human primate model, in the use of canary pox ALVAC viral vectors as immunogens, and in prime-boost vaccination protocols. Additional relevant research experience in detection of systemic as well as mucosal T cell, B cell and innate immune responses; experience in adaptive and innate functional assays as well as experience in HIV/SIV non-neutralizing antibody assays (such as antibody dependent cellular cytotoxicity assay) is preferred.


Commitment to training and mentoring is required. The successful candidate will be required to supervise, train, and mentor a team of postdoctoral and post-baccalaureate fellows as well as carry out his/her own research studies, under the overall mentorship of the laboratory PI/branch chief. The candidate must have an outstanding publication record. Additionally, high organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects are preferred.
