Position Summary
Assists in running the stem cell culture operation within the lab, as well as developing and conducting research projects, including experiment design, data analysis, documentation of experiment results, writing manuscripts, assists in writing research proposals and reports, and trains other lab members.


Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follows instructions and engages in discussion with principal investigator at regular intervals, designs research protocols, including developing procedures for the collection, carrying out experiments, and verification and management of data.
  • Supervises laboratory research, trains researchers on lab equipment and in cell culture techniques, and organizes laboratory activities.
  • Documents research topics, analyzes data and prepares and submits papers based on research work to publications and committees for publication or presentation to peers.
  • Solves practical problems relating to difficulties with equipment or test subjects. Suggests technical or procedural improvements in testing methods.
  • Conducts literature searches related to research project.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Location/Working Conditions

In-person work is preferred several days per week with some flexibilities for remote work. May involve occasional travels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree with 5+ years of experience in research lab operations or equivalent.
  • Prior experience working with cell culture.
  • Solid background in cell biology.
  • Expertise in imaging and flow cytometry.
  • Ability to analyze biomedical image data and to communicate data in a clear, concise manner.


Required Qualifications

PhD or master’s degree with 4 years of experience in research lab operations; or equivalent combination of education and experience equaling 9 years.

Salary Range
$47,000.00 - $85,200.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
