JOB DUTIES
Description
The laboratory within the Department of Human Genetics works in the fields of epigenomics and neurodevelopmental disorders. Projects in the lab use epigenomic profiling of primary tissues and disease modeling using in vitro cell culture models. The incumbent will be primarily responsible for training and supervising junior lab members (e.g. SRAs) to perform experimental works. The incumbent will supervise two SRAs to perform single cell epigenomic experiments using the Beckman Biomek automation platform, performing key quality controls of the data. The incumbent will additionally supervise another SRA to generate spatial transcriptomics data using the Nanostring CosMx spatial molecular imager. The incumbent will further supervise another SRA to perform experiments to develop the photonic-indexing-sequencing approach. The incumbent will oversee the data generation for two NIH U01 projects awarded to the PI’s group and involves multiple collaborating labs at UCLA, in additional to external collaborators at other universities. Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator, the incumbent will be responsible for undertaking research projects in collaboration with the Principal Investigator (PI) making independent contributions to research and experiments regarding the roles of gene regulation in brain development and psychiatric disorders using epigenomic approaches. The incumbent will perform epigenomic profiling experiments, making significant independent contributions in the design, troubleshooting, modification, and analysis of experiments and protocols. The incumbent will be responsible for implementing and performing a variety of new and ongoing experimental protocols, making significant and innovative contributions to the laboratory pertaining to complex experimental procedures of single-cell epigenomic profiling. The incumbent may provide training and direction and work cooperatively with other lab members, including doctoral and student lab assistants. The incumbent will independently write and publish manuscripts in journals, attend and present research results at laboratory meetings and academic conferences, and draft grant proposals. PAY RANGE: $ 24.28 – 48.04
