Job Summary

The Brain Tumor Center at UCSF focuses on developing new treatments for patients by studying the mechanisms through which brain tumors develop and grow. Research in the Vasudevan laboratory makes use of molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, mouse genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, pharmacology, and multidisciplinary collaborations to gain new insights into the molecular determinants of human malignancies. Our team is comprised of biologists, computational scientists, and physician-scientists working together to advance understanding of cancer biology and improve patient outcomes. Scientific insights stemming from our work have directly inspired clinical trials and changed treatment options for patients at UCSF and beyond.

Highly motivated individuals with prior laboratory experience are being recruited. Laboratory technician responsibilities will include cell culture, CRISPR gene editing, molecular biology, biochemistry, genomic sequencing, immunofluorescence, and mouse genetic models. Prior familiarity with these techniques is a plus, and a willingness to learn new techniques is expected. Current laboratory members include graduate, medical, and medical scientist training program students at UCSF as well as research residents and postdoctoral fellows. This position will focus specifically on understanding how the tumor suppressor gene neurofibromin causes nervous system tumors under the supervision of Dr. Harish Vasudevan. In addition, the successful applicant will receive direct mentorship from Dr. Vasudevan to insure specific laboratory responsibilities are directed toward big picture career objectives.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
