Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator, you will conduct studies with a mouse model of stroke and testing of the cellular effects of drug and biological therapeutics. The successful candidate will have had previous experience with survival surgery in rodents, transcardial perfusion, PCR, Western blot, drug administration to rodents, immunohistochemistry and in stroke modeling in mice.
Duties include but are not limited to: perform precise stereotaxic surgeries on mice, process tissue for histological, and immunohistochemical stains, transcardial perfusion, PCR and Western blot. In addition you will independently run research projects on mouse behavioral recovery after stroke. You will supervise undergraduate Lab Helpers and train graduate and postdoctoral fellows in mouse surgery and drug delivery. You are also responsible for participating in lab maintenance, supply ordering and all compliance tasks with biohazard and chemical disposal protocols.
