Responsibilities

This role is a research position in a vision science laboratory located in Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA School of Medicine. The position involves extensive work in both Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) conditions under quality control standards. It involves performing cellular and molecular techniques to support basic and clinical research.
This position also involves product manufacturing for clinical use, and all the paperwork associated to meet the regulatory standards.

  JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  

Qualifications

Required:

• Experience with molecular techniques
• Extensive experience with mammalian tissue culture, especially human tissue cell culture
• Minimum of two years’ experience working in a biomedical research laboratory
• Ability to work in a collaborative environment
• Skills in isolating and purifying high quality DNA and RNA and PCR
• Ability to use molecular biology software
• Ability and experience to perform immunohistochemistry
• Experience working with animals
• Ability to perform protein analysis by gel electrophoresis and Western Blots
• Ability to establish and maintain records and supply stocks
• Skills in maintaining the lab and equipment in working condition
• Demonstrated experience and skills in using the following Pipettes, Centrifuges, Balances, Incubators, Thermal cyclers, Dry blocs,
• Shakers, Autoclaves, Water baths, Liquid nitrogen tanks, DNA synthesizer, PH meter, sequences
• Experience with clinical product manufacturing under cGMP
• Decision-making, leadership, problem-solving and organizational skills
• Ability to communicate efficiently to serve as primary contact in multiple lab-related tasks
• Ability to take on new tasks, protocols, etc.
• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and to handle human material that will be used in clinical manufacturing and for human transplantation
• Detail-oriented

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Science (not including psychology)
• Ability to work with mice, setting up breeding pairs and recording births and weaning animals
• Experience writing SOPs, BMRs, Forms, Reports
• Experience addressing protocol deviations, out-of-specifications (OOS), corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), etc
