Qualifications

Required:

Demonstrated experience in chemistry, microbiology, and molecular biology.
Ability to supervise and train lab helper and students working in the labs.
Ability to prepare data for publication and grant applications
Ability to troubleshoot laboratory equipment malfunctions and arrange for service if necessary
Ability to keep inventory of supplies and place orders as needed.
Demonstrated skill in RT-PCR’s, flow cytometry, and immunological and molecular biology assays.
Skill in sterile technique and of tissue culture cell lines.
Basic molecular biological skills, e.g. Western and PCR.
Experience working with DNA, RNA, and proteins.
Skill in establishing and maintaining cells in tissue culture.
Skill in standard histological procedures
Skill in using micropipettors, microscopes, centrifuges, histology equipment, CO2 incubators, waterbaths,
spectrophotometer, pH meter, autoclaves, FACS.
Knowledge of lab safety procedures for handling and disposing of biohazardous, organic waste.
Ability to operate a computer, computer scanner.
Ability to establish and maintain accurate records.
Ability to prioritize tasks and coordinate activities for the completion of a given project.
Ability to write technical material in scientific language.
Skill in conducting literature search and retrievals, both through use of bioscience library and on-line service.
Working knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word, Keynote, PowerPoint, Acrobat Pro.
Ability to follow written and spoken instructions.
Ability to work independently.
A Bachelors Degree in the Life Sciences or Biochemistry
