Description

The Wells Lab studies neurodevelopmental disorders of genetic and environmental origin using human stem cell-based models of the fetal brain. This group has pioneered the “cell village” system in which cell lines from dozens of different people are cultured and analyzed in the same dish. This exciting new approach enables large-scale genetic and phenotypic screens that leverage naturally occurring variation across human populations. Experimental and computational 1. Maintain cultures of stem cells and stem cell derivatives to assist lab personnel. 2. Perform molecular biology techniques, such as PCR, qRT-PCR, knockdown of genes using CRISPR techniques, and cloning to assist lab personnel. 3. Perform basic technical duties in the lab such as cataloging cell lines and writing research reports 4. Computationally analyze single cell and bulk RNA-sequence data Administrative & General Laboratory Duties: 1. Help organize the laboratory and maintain general cleanliness. 2. Ordering reagents and consumables for the laboratory. 3. Implementing and maintaining laboratory safety protocols 4. Managing computer server space allocation for the research group 5. Assisting with issues relevant to stem cell compliance
