Under supervision, the incumbent will provide support for projects related to nutrition and the microbiome by assisting their PI, postdocs and other staff in performing standard tasks. In order to achieve this, the incumbent will utilize existing data analysis techniques such as R and Qiime and state of the art methodologies. Assist in compiling and preparing manuscripts and present results to industry partners.

  • Theoretical knowledge in nutritional, microbiome related fields, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Skill in working in a fast-paced research environment with deadlines for research results for grant proposals, manuscripts, and presentations at scientific meetings.

  • Ability to communicate in person, by phone, and in writing to diverse groups of persons who are students, researchers, staff, faculty, and scientific and non-scientific collaborators.

  • Ability to learn new analytical methods and adapt them to ongoing research projects.

  • Ability to provide oral presentation and explanation of research methods and results.

  • Ability to keep detailed and understandable records of methods, results, and evaluation of research results.

  • Demonstrable knowledge in nutrition, food science, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to make improvements on existing procedures that require trouble-shooting.

  • Ability to teach and learn about novel analytical techniques.

  • Demonstrated experience working in academic research environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively. Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize assignments, maintain workflow, and work productively in meeting critical deadlines.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including tact and diplomacy and the ability to work with a diverse group of people.

  • Background check required.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $53,766 - $64,143 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $25.75 - $30.72

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
