POSITION INFORMATION:  The Research Assistant will be responsible for performing experiments in a zebra fish research lab by applying standard scientific techniques as well as performing activities required to maintain and care for a zebra fish facility.


REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

  • Research.  Conducts research and laboratory analysis for research staff, to include but not limited to measure and weigh compounds and solutions, isolate, identify and prepare specimens, and collect samples and other research information.
  • Clinical Research.  Participates in clinical research projects collecting data from patients and/or participants in a study.  
  • Data Collection.  Collects various forms of data pertaining to the research project or projects, which could include database information and/or hard files. 
  • Record Keeping.  Keeps detailed logs of all research related projects or activities.
  • Literature Research.  Conducts literature searches.  
  • Data Analysis.  Conducts data analyses, interprets data, draws conclusions, and discusses with principal investigator.  
  • Report Preparation.  Prepares various reports containing descriptive, analytical, and evaluative content that may be submitted for publication. 
  • Test Construction.  Constructs tests or assists in the construction of tests. 
  • Collaboration.  Collaborates with other researchers.  
  • Material Presentation.  Participates in meetings and presents research findings to fellow researchers and Principal Investigator. 
  • As Needed.  Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

    Job Requirements

    Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or other scientific disciplines in a related field or equivalency required

     

    Experience:  12 months research/laboratory experience

     

    Equivalent/ Substitution:  Will accept 48 months of equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree or an Associate’s Degree plus 24 months research experience
